Defuse did not call for releasing a novel full length coronavirus in bats. This would clearly be dangerous in the wild as it would allow recombination in bats already infected, although less an issue in a controlled environment (BSL4 with uninfected bats). Defuse planned on using pox vector based virus expressing a novel spike protein to provide immunity to Sars related virus with spike as the antigen producing neutralizing antibodies.
Another concern is does a needle prick introducing a respiratory circus actually cause a respiratory infection?. The immune system in the sterile circulatory system is far less tolerant of foreign viruses than the mucosa where respiratory virus usually infect cells. She would essentially just be vaccinating herself but I am not an immunologist so cant say for sure.

But all the invited people from many countries come here and play by their own rules. And our courts? Do nothing. Our police? Do nothing. Our government? Do nothing. But they pay them money. Some come here with 5 different identities and guess what? They get the money. One person, with 5 different identities. And nobody in charge cares.
