Baric lied early in the pandemic
But who told him to lie?
According to Greek mythology (and Wikipedia), a chimera is any mythical or fictional creature with parts taken from various animals, to describe anything composed of disparate parts or perceived as wildly imaginative, implausible, or dazzling.
Dr Ralph Baric’s chimera is dazzling to nature’s eyes, because mother nature has never seen a novel chimera like SARS-CoV-2. In virology, a chimera is a virus that contains genetic material derived from two or more distinct viruses. According to a 2018 meeting about the DARPA Defuse proposal, Baric has built a novel chimera that was 20% different than anything in China.
I always assumed SARS-CoV-2 was 22% different than SARS-CoV-1, based on Baric’s own UNC publication in early 2020.
I repeated Baric’s 22% number in many Substack posts, since it was on my mind nearly two years ago. The number was on Baric’s mind nearly a decade ago, but he repeated the 22% number in a 2022 publication.
This time Baric gave us a reference shown below.
He referenced Dr Shi Zhengli who wrote a paper on the outbreak in Wuhan in January 2020.
Shi clearly stated SARS2 was 20.4% different from SARS1, since 100% - 79.6% = 20.4%. There are many factors involved in the simple “sequence identity” calculation; for example, amino acids versus nucleotides, or spike versus the entire genome. But the 20% number was much closer to the truth, based on the ‘hive mind’ of internet.
To summarize, a novel genome called SARS2 emerged in Wuhan that was 20.4% different than SARS1. Baric claimed to have created a chimera, which was the combination of two more virus samples, that was “20% different” in 2018.
That 2018 frozen chimera in Chapel Hill is 0.4% different from what emerged in Wuhan in 2020. Shi has a sample called RaTG13 that was 4% different, but Baric has a sample that is ten times closer!
Think about making a free throw from 12,500 kilometers away, which is the distance from Chapel Hill to Wuhan. The analogy is imperfect, but the vast distance is covered in Baric’s own words from DARPA Defuse.
Viruses designed in North Carolina could easily be used in China, since “the mail is filled with little envelopes with plasmid dried on to filter paper that scientists routinely send each other,” said Dr Jack Nunberg of the University of Montana.
But in Baric’s last interview before DARPA Defuse leaked, he never sent viruses to China: “Let me make it clear that we (UNC) never sent any of our molecular clones or any chimeric viruses to China.”
A collusion of cross referencing?
Baric’s first post-pandemic paper was published in January 2020, but he never referenced the peculiar furin cleavage site in SARS2. He did claim the receptor binding domain of SARS2 was “not ideal for binding to human ACE2.”
About 8,000,000,000 infected people on the planet probably claim otherwise, but the same Baric paper was referenced by the infamous Proximal Origins paper.
The natural origins paper also claimed the SARS2 receptor binding domain (RBD) was “not ideal.”
The Proximal Origin paper continued with the chimeric coverup.
It was famous footnote #20 that clued the Lancet Origins commissioner, Jeffrey Sachs, into an early coverup.
Furthermore, if genetic manipulation had been performed, one of the several reverse-genetic systems available for betacoronaviruses would probably have been used19. However, the genetic data irrefutably show that SARS-CoV-2 is not derived from any previously used virus backbone20.
The footnote #20 referenced an irrelevant paper from 2014, so it ignored Baric’s latest reverse genetic system published in 2017.
Shi’s method in Wuhan could not create a new backbone (chimera), but Baric’s method could create a new backbone, just like the chimera hiding in Baric’s fridge since 2018.
The above Proximal Origins paper was so important to Tony Fauci, he referenced and distributed it during a major press conference in April 2020.
Was Baric told to lie?
Baric flew to Washington D.C. two months before this Fauci press conference. On Feb 11th he met with Fauci. He was a long-time funder of Baric’s risky research.
Baric and Fauci discussed the “outbreak and chimeras.”
Which “chimera” was Fauci and Baric talking about on Feb 11, 2020?
Just two weeks after Baric met with Fauci, he gave a one hour technical presentation to US Congressional staff. We already knew Baric lied (by omission) regarding the furin cleavage site, but he also forecasted a future 2020 outbreak of some American (lab) animals.
“Transmission frequency can vary. The intermediate host strains can vary. An important consideration in the US for example; there could be reservoir species in the US that have good matches for ACE2 receptors. So if the virus comes here we could have an animal reservoir that the Chinese don’t. And then it hangs around for along time,” said Baric on Feb 26, 2020.
SARS2 does not infect or transmit in Baric’s safe humanized (hACE) mice, but it does transmit in Fauci’s stash of American deer mice!
The ACE2 receptors in SARS2 prefer the Rocky Mountain animals near Fauci’s biodefense lab. SARS2 can infect any mammal (antibodies), but it only transmits in a few mammals (onward transmission). Outside of humans, there are only five animals on this planet that efficiently transmit SARS2 (i.e. WA1 progenitor from Wuhan).
American mink are not found in China, but are found in Rocky Mountain Lab.
American deer (no relation to deer mice) are the only “wildlife reservoir” on the planet.
American deer mice (I asked Dr Nunberg why SARS2 was living in deer mice, but his answer was less enlightening than his UNC filter paper quote).
Syrian hamsters are not found in Wuhan before 2020, but used by Dr Vincent Munster in his DARPA Preempt project to aerosolize bat vaccines.
Egyptian fruit bats are a well known Western lab bat and kept at Fauci’s lab in Montana.
The exclusive list of SARS2 lab animals was only found at Rocky Mountain Lab, before the 2019 outbreak in Wuhan. I’ve directly asked Munster for an alibi. Please provide a 6th animal that efficiently transmits SARS2, unlike China’s raccoon dogs or Baric’s humanized mice?
Munster was even vague if SARS2 was airborne, even though all five ‘airborne’ transmission models are found in his BSL4 lab. Early in the pandemic, Munster and Fauci exchanged detailed emails about this aerosol paper.
Fauci proudly called Rocky Mountain Lab “my institute.” RML was so popular in 2019, it was on two of the five winning DARPA Preempt teams. One of those teams told us the plan; to send bat samples to Montana.
If SARS2 receptor binding domain was not “not ideal” for humans, it sure liked Fauci’s lab animals. Fauci later claimed to have never met Baric, but was shown his own calendar during a deposition.
During the lockdown, both Fauci and Baric gave a joint presentation in March 2020. Baric once again ‘missed’ the furin cleavage site while comparing SARS2 to SARS1, but he showed a slide with his infamous 2018 chimera called 279 + HKU3.
Why did Baric want Shi arrested?
During the Baric and Fauci meeting on Feb 17th, Baric wondered if Shi was going to be arrested for publishing RaTG13?
It was safe to assume Shi shared her unpublished RaTG13 sample (4% off SARS2) with Baric sometime before 2019. He then turned her bat sample into his patented “chimera.” Baric’s 279 + HKU3 chimera was now 10 times closer to a pre-pandemic strain like SARS2. The difference went from Shi’s 4% to Baric’s 0.4%. This novel chimera was patented and ready to go to the highest biodefense bidder. And that bidder was Fauci’s NIAID, which had a budget twice the size of DARPA.
Baric gave a recent interview in Time Magazine, but he casually threw the younger Munster under the (airborne transmission) bus for turning his chimera into an airborne killer.
In the mid-2010s, in the wake of MERS, Baric became convinced that the world needed a pan-coronavirus vaccine to protect humanity against whatever future pathogen the viral family next produced. The first step was to see how well an existing SARS-specific vaccine candidate his team had developed worked against other strains. Baric tested the vaccine against dozens of the coronavirus genomes that Shi Zhengli had harvested and sent to his (UNC) lab. Against strains less than 8% genetically different from SARS, the vaccine worked. Against those that—like MERS—surpassed that threshold, it failed miserably (why Baric wanted <25% chimeras).
Undeterred, Baric turned to synthetic virology, which is the science of stitching parts of different viruses together into artificial creations known as chimeras. Baric considered chimeras as the best way to study deadly pathogens while maintaining a safe lab with low risk of leaks. Submitting live SARS and MERS viruses to gain-of-function tests—like pressuring pathogens to evolve new ways of infecting hosts—was too edgy for him. But doing the same experiment with a chimera that combined a piece of a human coronavirus with one that could only infect a non-human animal (ironically called humanized mice) allowed Baric to test how coronaviruses evolve while avoiding the inadvertent creation of a pathogen with the capacity to replicate in human cells, said Baric in July 2023.
Remember Baric’s last interview before DARPA Defuse leaked, because he never sent any chimeras to China. Was the edgy Munster and boss Fauci the intermediary to Wuhan, thus creating a trail of SARS2 ‘intermediary species’ on the way back from Wuhan?
