This is where the story gets (even more)weird - Jahrling goes down to DC to meet with none other than neo-con war propagandist Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz and proceeds to go through what seems like a stage routine...
"Jahrling, as he circulated the photographs,, suggested something even more sinister: The spores appeared to have been treated with a particular chemical additive, bentonite. Wolfowitz, a foreign policy theorist who also held a degree in chemistry, tilted his head slightly. “Bentonite?”Jahrling informed him that bentonite was the claylike material known to have been used by the Iraqis in their suspicious work with a spore-forming but nonlethal cousin of anthrax."
